Lightweight Apparel Damage Prevention Playbook

Use this for shirts, socks, accessories, and other flexible goods. This playbook is for apparel and soft-goods teams optimizing low-weight shipments.

Packout checklist

  1. Fold the item to its stable packed footprint and compare mailer fit, seal clearance, and presentation needs.
  2. Confirm materials: corrugated boxes, protective wrap, edge protection, void fill.
  3. Keep a pass/fail packed sample at the bench and require a supervisor check for new fragile SKUs.
  4. For lightweight apparel work, treat damage prevention as a controlled operation: define the package spec, stage the right materials, and inspect the first completed orders before volume scales.
  5. Record the approved package size, finished weight, label position, and exception rule.

QA checks

  • Set size bands by folded footprint.
  • Avoid overstuffed seals.
  • Confirm the return flow if the same mailer is reused.

Station setup

Keep a pass/fail packed sample at the bench and require a supervisor check for new fragile SKUs.
