Seasonal Volume Surge Damage Prevention Playbook

Use this before promotions, holiday peaks, influencer drops, or marketplace events. This playbook is for warehouse leads preparing for a short-term order spike.

Packout checklist

  1. Estimate packaging burn by day and compare it with on-hand cartons, mailers, labels, tape, and filler.
  2. Confirm materials: corrugated boxes, protective wrap, edge protection, void fill.
  3. Keep a pass/fail packed sample at the bench and require a supervisor check for new fragile SKUs.
  4. For seasonal volume surge work, treat damage prevention as a controlled operation: define the package spec, stage the right materials, and inspect the first completed orders before volume scales.
  5. Record the approved package size, finished weight, label position, and exception rule.

QA checks

  • Set a reorder point for each critical packaging SKU.
  • Pre-stage the top packout combinations.
  • Review substitutions before the surge starts.
