Packout checklist
- Compare current and proposed packouts using material cost, finished dimensions, pack time, and exception rate.
- Confirm materials: inspection labels, replacement mailers, void fill, return envelopes.
- Separate inspect, clean, relabel, and repack areas so returned units do not mix with ready-to-ship inventory.
- For cost reduction review work, treat returns and rework as a controlled operation: define the package spec, stage the right materials, and inspect the first completed orders before volume scales.
- Record the approved package size, finished weight, label position, and exception rule.
QA checks
- Test the lower-cost option on a controlled order sample.
- Check whether carrier cost changes.
- Keep the prior spec available until the first batch passes review.
