Packout checklist
- Compare dimensions, material grade, adhesive or closure type, compatibility with equipment, and storage requirements.
- Confirm materials: inspection labels, replacement mailers, void fill, return envelopes.
- Separate inspect, clean, relabel, and repack areas so returned units do not mix with ready-to-ship inventory.
- For supplier substitution review work, treat returns and rework as a controlled operation: define the package spec, stage the right materials, and inspect the first completed orders before volume scales.
- Record the approved package size, finished weight, label position, and exception rule.
QA checks
- Run a side-by-side packout test.
- Confirm the substitute fits existing storage and replenishment labels.
- Document when the substitute is allowed and when it is not.
